Dance of Thrace (with live daouli drum) - 2011

Dance troupes like the Grecian Odyssey Dancers of St Katherine Greek Orthodox Church take pride in authenticity and are deeply committed to preserving traditional culture.  Their “Thraki” presentation draws from Greek, Thracian, Macedonian and Bulgarian traditions. The dancers in this video are accompanied by another playing a modern bolt-tuned version of a daouli (davul, dawul, tapan, tupan) which is a two-headed drum used prevalently in the folk music of many countries.  Video shot and produced by Jill Bazeley.
